During the “mid 90’s”, just as Ford was improving their cars to get ‘the market back again’, the need grew for people with a common interest in these cars so that they could get together. It was 1996 that such a group of five friends/enthusiasts got together to form the XR8 & XR6 Owners Club of Victoria. From here the ‘word’ was soon spreading around and membership was growing at a rapid rate. Then in 1997, a Club was established for the primary purpose of promoting the ownership, preservation and operation of high performance Fords produced by the manufacturer, specifically for the owners of XR8 and XR6 Ford Falcons.

In line with Ford changing their branding of these performance vehicles, in 2002 the club changed its name to FPV & XR Owners Club of Victoria so that it covered all of the generations of the XR and its derivatives that have been built. The passion of the members certainly has not changed from the beginnings of the club as can be seen by the variety of vehicles owned and kept by their owners.

The FPV & XR Owners Club of Victoria consists of approximately 290 members who share a common interest in Ford, Tickford and FPV vehicles, from the humble EB XR Series through to some of the latest cars produced by FPV, such as the Typhoon and Tornado.

The Club is very active in both competition and social events with members competing at sprint days in healthy competition with other clubs such as HSV Owners Club of Victoria at various Race Tracks around Victoria. We are also affiliated with the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport; therefore members are eligible to obtain CAMS licenses for competition motor sport events.

The club holds general meetings on the first Tuesday of the month (except for November – held on the 2nd Tuesday and no meeting in January) at the Manningham Club, 1 Thompsons Road, Bulleen. The general meetings are chaired by the committee and often include guest speakers. The general meetings are a great way to meet other club members on a regular basis to find out information and ‘tell’ a few stories to others. Meals are available at the Venue from around 6.00pm and prices are very reasonable for drinks and meals.

Some of the activities organised for members include:

  • Sprint Days at race circuits and driver training
  • Drives/Cruises and/or Navigational Fun Runs on a monthly basis
  • Technical Days, Information Tours
  • Club Displays at Shows eg. All Ford Day, Shannons Aussie Car Day, Australian Grand Prix
  • Annual Concourse of Owners Vehicles
  • X-mas Party Function

All members receive a bi-monthly magazine detailing coming events and articles by the club committee and members.
